These ties are made from hand loomed fabrics that are typically used to make longyis, which are the ubiquitous cloth skirts worn by both men and women in Myanmar (Burma). The designs represent different textile traditions from various regions throughout the country. I procured these on a scouting mission for Le Mondeur to Myanmar in March. I met the owner of the social enterprise who works with this group. I'd love to do more work with them to give these small producers access to a larger market. This is just a small lot to begin but they were so rad I could NOT pass up taking a handful home with me. My husband wears his all the time!

More about Kind Stitch: “Kind Stitch is a Myanmar small social business. Your Kind Stitch is handcrafted by women advancing their lives despite physical challenges. Profits from Kind Stitch to to support Those Pan Hla, the Myanmar Women Garment Worker's Association."

A not from Kind Stitch on garment care: Hand loomed fabrics are exquisite to wear but might snag. If snags occur, clip thread ends. Wash in cool water, air dry. And WEAR!
